Before we talk about the decades of experience and precise machining that go into each billet receiver set; it all begins by personally selecting U.S.A. made billet 7075 T-7 aerospace-grade aluminum . The next step is selecting the grain direction of the material runs a certain way before the blocks of billet are cut. This ensures when machining both the matched upper and lower receiver that they stay true to one another and do not warp.
7075 T-7 aerospace-grade aluminum has excellent mechanical properties, is very durable, and offers good resistance to fatigue. It’s a hardened aluminum that has been stress relieved so it will stand up to a lot of machining while staying in spec. You’ll find this material is extensively used in structural applications, aircraft, and spacecraft parts.
All machining on both the upper and lower receivers is done at one time maintaining the tolerance spec at all times. One of the secrets to having a hyper-accurate AR-15 is making sure that the barrel, barrel extension, upper receiver and buffer tube are concentric.
Particular attention has been given to the mag well and trigger guard area of our billet lower receivers greatly improving the overall strength. Each of these processes is chosen so that when the Phoenix Weaponry logo gets machined onto the receiver we know it will be accurate for a lifetime.
